Veterans in Delaware

Delaware Hospice will hold a Veterans Day Program on Tuesday, November 10^th, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, for all veterans and their families.

The event will inform attendees of the current changes in benefits as well as provide a musical tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. Local Little League administrators in Smyrna will be conducting a Little League Road Show on Saturday, Nov. 14. The day-long clinic will supply local league administrators with all the information and training they need to operate their leagues.

Little League staff members from the East Region Headquarters in Bristol, Conn., will be conducting the clinic. This is one of several training and information seminars to be conducted in the coming months by Little League Baseball and Softball at various locations across the country.

PLEASE BE SAFE IN DELAWARE THIS HALLOWEEN - HAPPY HALLOWEEN & SAFETY IN DELAWARE !

Organizations concerned with swine flu H1N1 safety this Halloween have some tips to pass along. The Red Cross says be careful in handling any halloween treats. Watch out for loose candy, don't allow children to reach into bowls of candy, and keep hands away from eyes, nose and mouth. If trick-or-treaters must use your doorbell or a door handle, wipe off the surfaces often with a disinfectant.

As for general safety, PLEASE use costumes that are light colored and ensure that they are short enough to avoid tripping. Children should carry flashlights and be accompanied by an adult. Wait until treats are examined by an adult before opening or consuming them.

The run will be located at the Wilmington Riverfront andd will start at 9:00am. The onsite registration opens at 8:00am so be sure to be there early! Racers will automatically receive a T-shirt displaying the student artwork of the name and logo of this run. The entry fee will be $16.00 until November 4^th, 2009 and $20.00 on the day of the event.
